Plastaras is Attending Physiatrist at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation and Clinical Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Jefferson University since 2018 when he was named Clinical Director of Musculoskeletal Spine & Sports Rehabilitation Medicine at MossRehab and Chair of the Einstein Spine Institute. He is the former Director of The Penn Spine Rehabilitation Center at the University of Pennsylvania. He also served as the Director of Penn’s Spine, Sports, and Musculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship from 2009-2018. He was co-lead for the Penn Neuroscience Spine Service Line from 2015-2018. He has earned board certifications in Sports Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Plastaras has extensive clinical experience in spine care and performing percutaneous fluoroscopically guided spine procedures and ultrasound guided injections. He has been a faculty member at numerous spinal procedure courses offered by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) and The North American Spine Society. He has lectured regionally and nationally on spine related topics. His research focus is on the safety and the efficacy of spinal procedures. He has authored 45 original research publications and 40 reviews, chapters, and opinion publications.
